Story of MAGICTOY

MAGICTOY is a multi-functional cognitive training device that was developed in order to
help with two important challenges that the global community faces.
The worldwide phenomenon of sharp increase in elderly population has created many
social issues, such as rise in number of Alzheimer’s patients and the increasing cost of
medical care of the ageing population, which in turn have highlighted the importance of
research and development in the field of gerontology and, in particular, of proper
elderly mental health care. We seek to contribute to the global effort of improving
wellbeing and quality of life for the elderly by developing MagicToy - a non-pharmachological
healthcare aid device that not only can help minimize the deterioration of cognitive
functions due to natural ageing, but also potentially can improve such important
abilities as spatial recognition and memory in seniors.
The issue of ever-changing educational scene also poses another social challenge in
which the classroom seeks to break away from conventional learning methods involving
heavy memorization and instead evolve toward a more activity-based strategies
that put greater emphasis on interative, integrated content. MagicToy was designed
with the purpose of not only overcoming main limitations of traditinal educational toys,
but also giving students of all grades the opportunity to enhance important cognitive
abilities such as logical problem-solving, intuition, imagination, creativity, and deductive
decision making. Integro envisions a STEAM-based integrated educational environment
in which student-led experience and learning by trial and error, rather than one in which
students struggle with unfruitful repetition of pre-written study materials. We are
confident MAGICTOY will be an integral part of this vision.
Furthermore, we hope to expand our goal and develop a series of interactive cognitive
training programs using MagicToy. With such a training system that is easily accessible
to senior citizens and can be easily incorporated into their daily routines, we look
forward to become a part of an effort to help the ever increasing Alzheimer’s patients,
reduce elderly medical expenses, as well as maximize the quality of life in later stages in
life. Integro also seeks to create a platform in which MagicToy can be incorporated into
future-focused experimental learning methods. We are also putting our sincerest effort
into creating a culture of teaching and learning that can help raise students into global
talents equipped with strong basic cognitive skills in addition to academic knowledge.
